Q14: Sione's Wedding

I forgot to include this earlier in Australia.  You'd probably enjoy this guy-centered comedy from New Zealand.  It is fun.

Q12: Cool Runnings

If you have not watched this film ever, you should at some point.  It's really fun.  It's a true story and they managed to include humor into the adventure.

This is the Disney film about the Jamaican bobsled team that competed in the Olympics.  (And I remember watching them compete when I was little.  My parents fussed over them and we rooted for them.  It was on tv of course, but it made a distinct memory.)  They're still competing, but the members are new.

Q10: Working Girls (2010)

This is from the Philippines and I can't figure out whether it is a remake of the 1980s film.  Unfortunately, there are no subtitles on the trailer.  It may be more of a chick flick; I can't tell.  I liked the song though and their use of language.

Q9: Haiti Cherie

This film is about a couple fighting to stay alive in Haiti.  The song that plays throughout the trailer adds a lot to the mood.  The subtitles don't help; they look Italian.  If you watch the film, there is an English subtitle option.  I couldn't find a trailer that had them.

Did you find connections to other areas we've studied?

Q7: Hooked

Hahahahahahahahaha.  I am so not the target audience for this.  This is the worst trailer I have ever seen.  Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha.  Seriously.

The film is from Antigua and I haven't seen it.  It could be fantastic.  The man doing the voiceover is trying to sound seductive.  The acting looks like grade school musical performances.

It doesn't help that the poor character tells another one he's a "knucklehead" and I burst out laughing.

Here is the trailer.

This is a recent film shot entirely in Antigua about the people's struggle for justice.

Q4: 50 First Dates

While not about Hawaii at all, the minor characters add insight into Hawaiian culture.   Because it's a rom-com, it may be one of those films you hold on to to win girlfriend points.
